Daniel Taylor is now one of today’s most sought-after countertenors. His Glyndebourne operatic debut in Peter Sellar’s production of Handel’s Theodora was greeted with unanimous critical praise and followed on his stunning professional operatic debut in Jonathan Miller’s production of Handel’s Rodlinda.
He receives invitations from an ever-widening circle of the world’s leading early and contemporary music ensembles, appearing in opera (Metropolitan Opera, Glyndebourne, Rome, San Francisco), oratorio (The Monteverdi Choir, The English Baroque Soloists, Les Arts Florissants, Collegium vocale de Ghent, RIAS Berlin & Stuttgart Kammerchors, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, The Academy of Ancient Music), symphonic works (Dallas, Montreal, Houston, Toronto, St. Louis, Rotterdam),and recital (Tragicomedia, Les Voix humaines, Teatro Lirico, Arion).
His many recordings include Bach Cantatas with Gardiner (DG), Cantatas “before B ach” with Herreweghe (Harmonia Mundi), Handel’s Rinaldo with Hogwood (Decca), Sakamoto’s Life (Soni), Handel’s Theodora with Christie (Erato), as well as discs of Pucell, Byrd, Dowland and Bach (ATMA). He founded the Theatre of Early Music which he directs.
