Stephan Van Dyck, tenor (Belgium)

Born in Brussels, Steven van Dyck graduated in voice from the Brussels Royal Conservatory and in musicology from the Université Libre de Bruxelles. He continued his studies with René Jacobs and Rachel Yakar at the Studio Versailles Opera and at the Paris Conservatory with William Christie. Since then he has worked with many ensembles including La Chapelle Royale (Herreweghe), Organum (M. Perez), Huelgas (P. Van Nevel), Janequin (D. Visse), and Binchois (D. Vellard).

As soloist, Mr. Van Dyck has worked with Les Talents Lyrique (C. Rousset), Les Arts Florissants (W. Christie), Ricercar Consort (P. Pierlot), The Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra (T. Koopman), La Petite Bande (S. Kuijken), Les Musiciens du Louvre (M. Minkowski), and Le Concert des Nations (J. Savall), thus participating in many international festivals.
Mr van Dyck has performed in many operas including Don Quichotte (Boismortier), Alceste and Persée (Lully), Arminio (Handel), Il Ritorno di Ulisse and Orfeo (Monteverdi), and La Rappresentatione di Anima e di Corpo (Cavalieri) among others with performances in Brussels, Paris, Ambronay, Amsterdam, Montpellier and Nîmes.

Mr van Dyck has made over forty recordings of music ranging from the middle ages to the classical period on various labels including Harmonia Mundi, Sony, Naxos, Ricercar, and Bis. He teaches at L’Académie de Musique de Nivelles and at the Conservatoire Royal de Musique de Mons. He has given master classes at the Toulouse and Oslo Conservatories.
