First-prizewinner of the Erwin Bodky International Competition for Early Music, she has performed throughout North America and abroad. Matthews&#8221; extensive recorded output ranges from the rich solo violin repertoire of seventeenth-century Italy to the pinnacle of the violinist\u2019s repertoire, the Sonatas and Partitas for unaccompanied violin of J.S. Bach. Of the latter, the critic for American Record Guide writes: &#8220;This superb recording is now my top recommendation\u2026 on either period or modern instruments.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Formerly a member of Toronto\u2019s Tafelmusik, Ingrid Matthews has also been an active performer with chamber ensembles including Zephyrus and La Luna, and is a frequent collaborator with harpsichordist-fortepianist Byron Schenkman. In addition, she is a frequent guest concertmaster and soloist with numerous leading American ensembles including the New York Collegium, the Los Angeles Bach Society and the Boston Early Music Festival Orchestra.
